Helen's Guestbook

Hello everyone. I do hope you all are doing well and staying busy and happy. I have been quite busy since I last wrote to you.
I did have a very busy summer with all of the fairs. It seems that I spent more time in airports than I did anyplace else. I worked with
so many wonderful acts during the summer and then Jim Ed and I closed out our traveling for the year on Oct. 14th in Morehead
City, NC. He was in a lot of pain then and did finally give in and have the hip replacement surgery on Nov. 27th. He is doing very
well now, and will soon throw away the cane.
When I finished on the road Oct. 14th, I immediately went into rehearsals for the comedy/musical, COULD IT BE LOVE. Jeannie
Seely and I co-starred in it with a wonderful cast. It was sold out each night as we performed it Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sunday, the first four
weekends of November skipping Thanksgiving Day. I do believe we enjoyed it more this time than the other three. We joked that
we spend so much time together that we truly know each other and we actually became the part we were playing. We have talked
about doing STEEL MAGNOLIAS with our wonderful cast of ladies sometime late this year, or next year. If so, it will be on my
website letting you know.
My grandbabies are just wonderful and growing like weeds. Ross is 3-1/2 now and recites the Pledge of Allegiance without
blinking..He does say the "under God" part really loud....I don't know if that was emphasized in his daycare, or his own
interpretation. At any rate, I love it...Morgan is now 1-1/2 yrs. old and way ahead of her age. She learned so much from Ross and
was walking at 11-1/2 months. She wants to feed herself and gave up the bottle at 12 months in favor of holding her own "sippee"
cup and being in charge of herself..Now tell me...does that sound like a woman? Those of you who have grandchildren know the
true joy that comes from that experience.
I stayed home New Year's Eve, but attended a New Year's Day party at my friends, Keith Adkisson and Jett Williams Adkisson.
Several artists were there...we all took a covered dish and picked and sang a little bit. It was a wonderful way to start the new year.
Last week, about 30 artists, including me, taped the Country Family Reunion shows. It was just so wonderful being with all of the
legends and knowing that I will have a copy of this experience. Little Jimmy Dickens, Jim Ed Brown, Ronnie McDowell, Margo
Smith, Jan Howard, Jeannie Seely, Jean Shepard, Norma Jean, Ernie Ashworth, Charlie Pride, Roy Clark, T. Graham Brown, T. G.
Sheppard, Kelly Lang, Mary Lou Turner, Bill Anderson, Johnny Counterfeit, Lynn Anderson, Darrell McCall, Doug Stone, Ed
Bruce, Mickey Gilley, Barbara Fairchild, Carol Lee Cooper, Vince Gill, Jimmy C. Newman, the Whites, and on and on....I am leaving
out many, but I simply cannot recall all of them. The DVD series will be available after they are edited. You can check my website
for them, or I am quite sure it will be advertised on CMT and GAC. Quite a treat!!
I am leaving next week for Laughlin, Nevada...I am working quite a few package shows with Country Gold, the package that Gladys
and Leroy VanDyke produce. I am also going to Hawaii with my friends from Arizona in March. They were also from Branson when
I was there. We are staying with some other friends who live in Hawaii, but also visit Branson a lot. I have never been to Hawaii,
so I am looking forward to the warm weather and beautiful scenery.
The dates are coming in fairly regular for this year, and I hope to be close to some of you and get to see you. I will try to keep my
schedule updated a little better than I have in the past.
I go back the middle of February for my checkups with the cancer doctors, but I have been fine up to this point and think I am fine
now. Kathy Cornelius Gibbons, my niece, is also doing fine. This unwelcome invader made me highly aware of just how much
cancer there is on this planet. I am constantly praying for folks who have been visited by this disease, and I hope you also pray
for those you know of. Prayer is a powerful thing, and I do know how it lifted me up. It was absolutely awesome reading some of
the beautiful prayers that people sent upward on my behalf. My prayers are not that eloquent, but nevertheless, very sincere.
Susan Hoffman who does this website is wanting to move to New York City very soon, and I have no doubt that she will do that very
thing. Susan is very talented and performs in musicals every year in Peoria, Il. She escapes to NYC a couple of times a year, and
has the most wonderful time attending Broadway plays and musicals. That is where her heart is, and along with her two babies
Harry Potter and Manny (shih tzu's), I want her to be happy. Let's all lift her up in prayer as well...May her dreams come true.
Well, I need to get busy, but I do enjoy getting the emails you send to my website and hearing from you...Do take care and have a
most wonderful and blessed 2008. I will write again soon..Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support. That
is the greatest give you could give me, second only to the prayers...God bless you all.
